Michael Levine - Chairman
Michael Levine is the communications director for Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City and manages all digital, print and broadcast messaging and collateral. His communications efforts have led to multiple local/national awards for the local KC affiliate.
After hours, Michael is very active in the food and beverage industry as the founder of the events and marketing firm, EAT – Entertaining and Training as well as his work with The Lab (the beverage marketing company who founded and leads the monthly Caffeine Crawls around North America) … odds are if he ate it or drank it that week you’ll see it on his Instagram & Twitter feeds!
In his downtime you can find Michael in Brookside with his two daughters and his wife Julie who also shares his passion for delicious food and engaging social media.
Lauren Vaughn, President
Lauren Vaughn joined social media the first chance she got, eagerly awaiting her new college email to create her Facebook account (back in 2006). Those were the good ole days. In college, she was an active member of Sigma Kappa, and served as her sorority's Greek Week Representative and Social Chair. After graduating from Missouri State University in 2011 (including a victory lap) and years of professional experience in marketing and public relations later, she currently works as the Digital Marketing Specialist for QC Holdings, Inc.
Lauren's background includes a holistic mix of freelance consulting, client/corporate marketing and agency experience. She is also Google AdWords and Analytics certified and continually works to foster her ongoing education, whether it's attending workshops and seminars or signing up for the latest digital/social fad.
When not working for the man, Lauren stays involved in the community by coaching with Girls on the Run, serving on the board for Young Friends of the Lyric Opera, volunteering with KC Pet Project, and Junior Board of Catholic Charities. She also keeps active playing kickball and sand volleyball in rec sports leagues, feeding her addiction to spin class, and chasing after her adorable and ornery Cocker Spaniel, Elsie.
Although hardly a photogenic individual, Lauren’s personal goal in life is to become Instagram-famous (organically of course), travel the world, and continue to expand her personal and professional network. Lauren loves to chat (mainly about herself) but also about sharing her experiences with Social Media Club and maintains an open Twitter policy for new and old members alike to contact her.
Kristen Waggener, Vice President
Kristen is a Communications Specialist for the City of Lenexa, Kansas where she is responsible for managing strategy and execution on all of the city’s social accounts with the focus on building the Lenexa community through social engagement and information sharing.
She is actively engaged in both the Regional Association of Public Information Officers and Government Social Media Organization; with the shared mission to foster social media knowledge sharing. Living in the downtown Overland Park area, Kristen spends her spare time fostering cats and kittens through Great Plains SPCA while wrangling two of her own. She truly is the crazy cat lady (no, really).
Bridget Koan, Treasurer
In addition to keeping a watchful eyes on our budget, Bridget is a Public Relations Specialist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her posts center on sustainability and facilities for various departments from around the University; such as the Conservatory of Music and Dance, School of Computing and Engineering, in addition to the Theater, Economics and Art History departments.
As a self-proclaimed news junkie with an addiction to talk radio, reading and all things social she is diligently monitoring the University’s social media accounts allowing her to coordinate on initiatives with some brilliant rockstars.
Angela Pritchett, Membership
Angela is a Digital Marketer at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, managing social media and implementing marketing strategies that enhance how visitors engage with the museum. She also is part of the team that plans, promotes and produces the museum’s popular monthly Third Thursday arts, music and cultural event.
In addition to SMCKC, Angela is actively involved in Creative Mornings Kansas City and a champion of Kansas City’s bike/walk community. When she’s not riding BCycles up Rockhill Road, Angela can be found at a local concert venue or taste testing her way through new bakeries and coffee shops. She lives in Waldo with her husband Michael and cat Voldemort – yes, that is his name and he’s truly as evil as his namesake.
Hayley Cacioppo, Events
Hayley Cacioppo is a strategic marketing professional who is passionate about working with businesses to maximize use of digital platforms to achieve their marketing objectives. Her expertise ranges from website redesigns and email marketing campaigns to paid search marketing, content creation and implementation for social media campaigns.
Teresa Maly is the advertising operations manager at Intouch Solutions, where she grows the healthcare marketing agency’s ad ops capabilities in display, along with paid social and paid search QA. Originally from a small town in southwest Iowa, Teresa is an alumna of Iowa State University and received her M.S. from St. Cloud State University.
She's active in the fashion, cosplay and photography communities of Kansas City; managing event social media for Planet Comicon, blogging about fashion and social media, and doing fashion photoshoots through Kansas City Fashion Council. With her (minimal) spare time, she's chasing after her adopted cats Oscar and Rita, cooking something cheese-based or creating something with her sewing machine or camera.
Kelly Lewis, Advocacy
Kelly Lewis discovered her passion for marketing in 2014, inside the newly constructed Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Through a self-designed internship with the 49ers, she saw all that marketing could be. In college she continued to dabble in marketing with a variety of sports internships (Kansas City Chiefs and DraftKings). After graduating from William Jewell College in 2016, she gained marketing experience at various positions before settling in to become the Marketing Manager for nbkc bank in Kansas City, Missouri, where she works today.
Through her passion for helping others, Kelly spends her free time volunteering for a variety of Kansas City organizations such as Great Plains Hospice, YouThrive, Youth For Christ, and CASA of Johnson County. She also enjoys traveling, (with a goal to visit all 195 countries), and spending time with her husband, son, and two doggos.
Kelly’s professional background contains a variety of corporate and agency experience, while also being Google Analytics and Hubspot certified. With a love for learning, she’s currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Saint Mary’s.
A self proclaimed jack-of-all-trades, Kelly’s professional dream is to become a Chief Marketing Officer one day (hopefully for nbkc bank), and continue to learn as much as she can about marketing and brand development until then. Although networking isn’t her strong suit, she enjoys close mentorships with her professional role models. She takes pride in going above and beyond (& her “You Matter” Employee of the Quarter Award).
Lexi is a Communications Specialist for the Kansas City Area Development Council. At KCADC, she is responsible for social media creation and written communication, as well as a number of other duties.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Northwest Missouri State University. Through her position at KCADC, she has been attending SMCKC meetings for the last two years. Working for a nonprofit herself, she co-leads Ignition, a volunteer event for young professionals to help out nonprofits in the KC area with social media plans and strategies.
Lexi’s hobbies include following beagles and bunnies on Instagram, listening to true crime podcasts, keeping up with the Kardashians and watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s or The Sandlot. She is active on her own social media channels as well.
