Michael Levine - President
Michael, SMCKC president is the communications director for Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City and manages all digital, print and broadcast messaging and collateral. His communications efforts have led to multiple local/national awards for the local KC affiliate.
After hours, Michael is very active in the food and beverage industry as the founder of the events and marketing firm, EAT – Entertaining and Training as well as his work with The Lab (the beverage marketing company who founded and leads the monthly Caffeine Crawls around North America) … odds are if he ate it or drank it that week you’ll see it on his Instagram & Twitter feeds!
In his down time you can find Michael in Brookside with his two daughters and his wife Julie who also shares his passion for delicious food and engaging social media.
Carolyn Anderson - Vice President
Carolyn is the Social Media Manager for Visit KC.
She works daily to fulfill the mission of igniting global passion for Kansas City by creating and curating content for all of Visit KC's social media channels. She brings extensive experience in content marketing, as well as in business-to-consumer marketing programs stemming from 10+ years in the advertising industry at agencies throughout the country.
Bridget Koan - Treasurer
In addition to keeping a watchful eyes on our budget, Bridget is a Public Relations Specialist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her posts center on sustainability and facilities for various departments from around the University; such as the Conservatory of Music and Dance, School of Computing and Engineering, in addition to the Theater, Economics and Art History departments.
As a self-proclaimed news junkie with an addiction to talk radio, reading and all things social she is diligently monitoring the University’s social media accounts allowing her to coordinate on initiatives with some brilliant rockstars.
Elliot Johnson - Communications Co-Chair
Elliot Johnson is a member of our communications team serving as co-chair. He's an eCommerce professional currently working for Bunzl Processor Division in North Kansas City. Besides their eCommerce initiatives and development, he helps with the direction and management of their inbound marketing, social media strategy, and email marketing.
Elliot earned his MBA from the University of Kansas in 2013. He's worked in film, a non-profit health clinic, and other small organizations where he created and directed robust, digital business development with very limited amounts of resources.
He's passionate to a fault and a lover of: arts, food, traveling and good conversation.
Lauren Vaughn - Membership Chair
Lauren Vaughn joined social media the first chance she got, eagerly awaiting her new college email to create her Facebook account (back in 2006). Those were the good ole days. In college, she was an active member of Sigma Kappa, and served as her sorority's Greek Week Representative and Social Chair. After graduating from Missouri State University in 2011 (including a victory lap) and years of professional experience in marketing and public relations later, she currently works as the Digital Marketing Specialist for QC Holdings, Inc.
Lauren's background includes a holistic mix of freelance consulting, client/corporate marketing and agency experience. She is also Google AdWords and Analytics certified and continually works to foster her ongoing education, whether it's attending workshops and seminars or signing up for the latest digital/social fad.
When not working for the man, Lauren stays involved in the community by coaching with Girls on the Run, serving on the board for Young Friends of the Lyric Opera, volunteering with KC Pet Project, and Junior Board of Catholic Charities. She also keeps active playing kickball and sand volleyball in rec sports leagues, feeding her addiction to spin class, and chasing after her adorable and ornery Cocker Spaniel, Elsie.
Although hardly a photogenic individual, Lauren’s personal goal in life is to become Instagram-famous (organically of course), travel the world, and continue to expand her personal and professional network. Lauren loves to chat (mainly about herself) but also about sharing her experiences with Social Media Club and maintains an open Twitter policy for new and old members alike to contact her.
Brenda Hill - Advocacy Chair
Brenda is a long-term member of SMCKC who is excited to be contributing on the board level.
Currently, she works in PR for local government. She has also held corporate roles with PR & social media responsibility.
Brenda is active in national social media groups and is interested in helping SMCKC give back to the KC area community. She has a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Erica Braker - Events Co-Chair
Erica spends her work day as the Event Planner at the Great Plains SPCA helping to save, protect and improve the lives of animals, while strengthening the relationship between pets and their human companions.
In addition to the SMCKC chapter; Erica is active in SMC Lawrence and GKC – PRSA PRISM serving on the events committee.
As a graduate of the University of Kansas school of Business, residing in Lawrence, the secret to becoming Erica's best friend is to whisper 3 magic words:

Adrianne DeWeese - Special Events Chair
Adrianne DeWeese is Continuing Education Specialist for the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. She previously worked as an Account Coordinator for Synoptos Inc. and a reporter and photographer for the Independence (Mo.) Examiner and Leavenworth (Kan.) Times, where her news and feature coverage received honors from both the Missouri and Kansas Press associations.
Adrianne also is active on the Marketing and Communications Committee for Kansas City Women in Technology, and she serves as board chairwoman for Pages & Chapters, a family literacy nonprofit organization in Kansas City and Washington, D.C. She is currently working toward a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Kristen Waggoner - Communications Co-Chair
Kristen is a Communications Specialist for the City of Lenexa, Kansas where she is responsible for managing strategy and execution on all of the city’s social accounts with the focus on building the Lenexa community through social engagement and information sharing.
She is actively engaged in both the Regional Association of Public Information Officers and Government Social Media Organization; with the shared mission to foster social media knowledge sharing. Living in the downtown Overland Park area, Kristen spends her spare time fostering cats and kittens through Great Plains SPCA while wrangling two of her own. She truly is the crazy cat lady (no, really).
Leah Godfrey - Events Co-Chair
When not acting as the SMCKC events ninja, Leah is the Interactive Strategist at Summit Marketing. Her strategic thinking and keen insight help her clients exceed their digital and social goals.
Leah's background extends into project management, public relations and website design/development.
A proud graduate of University of Central Missouri, GO MULES! she is also an avid Kansas City Royals, Chiefs and MU sports fan!

Marc Vasquez - Technology Chair
When not handling club communications, Marc is the Security Awareness Program Manager for UMB Financial Corporation where he puts his more than 16 years of agency and corporate public relations and social media experience to good use in leading the banks enterprise social media and email marketing efforts.
Marc is also a member of the Social Media Club national board and past president of the Public Relations Society of America, Greater Kansas City chapter.
In addition to his APR (Accreditation in Public Relations), Marc is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, and by night is the sidekick Robin to his superhero now 9-year-old son who believes himself to be Batman. Keep an out at the next event, you may just see him in his Batmobile.
