Kansas City Social Media Achievements Get “Amplified”
Social Media Club of Kansas City Shows Hosts the 2nd Annual AMPS Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 18, 2016) – Tonight, the Social Media Club of Kansas City (SMCKC), the national Social Media Club’s most active local chapter, honored the best in social media marketing campaigns during the 2nd Annual AMPS Awards. The event passed out 40 gold and silver campaign awards in eight categories:

  • Multi-Channel Integrated Campaign
  • Integration with an Offline Campaign
  • Facebook (Sole or Primarily) Campaign
  • Email (Sole or Primarily) Campaign
  • Twitter (Sole or Primary) Channel Campaign
  • Visual Campaign
  • Event or Real-Time Marketing Campaign
  • Blog or Influencer Campaign

Each campaign contained winners from one or all of the following categories: brand, agency, non-profit or government, bank or regulated industry.

“Last year was our maiden voyage so to speak, and this year was event better,” said Kristopher Nielsen, SMCKC president. “We nearly doubled the number of campaign entries from 45 in 2015 to 80 this year. We also had a tough time picking the individual awards because of the large amount of amazing social media talent in Kansas City – and that’s a good thing.”

In keeping with the unconventional roots of the AMPS Awards, SMCKC also handed out a five out of the ordinary individual awards:

  • Volunteer of the Year, presented to Kristen Waggener, City of Lenexa, Kansas
  • Biggest Bang for Your Buck, presented to Bernstein-Rein Hostess Snacks Opening Day Touchdown Campaign
  • Trailblazer of the Year, presented to Duane Hallock, American Red Cross
  • Hat Tip Award, presented to Nolan Greiter and Brandon Billings of Bernstein-Rein for the Hostess Suzy Q Social Campaign Mentions
  • Legacy Award, presented to Barkley for the Wingstop and Whataburger #SquashTheBeef Campaign

“We hope to continue to build on previous year success, but this event doesn’t happen. We have the support of some fantastic volunteers and very generous Kansas City organizations,” said Kate Favrow, SMCKC vice president. “We’re proud of what they have helped us achieve not only for the AMPS but throughout the year as well.”
